Bombay Sapphire (Sin dosificador)

Bombay Sapphire is an iconic gin produced at the Laverstoke Mill distillery in Hampshire, England.

The project, led by Master of Botanicals Ivano Tonutti and Master Distiller Nik Fordham, is distinguished by its meticulous selection of botanicals sourced from various regions around the world and its commitment to precision at every stage of the process.

The base spirit is a neutral wheat distillate, which undergoes a steam infusion with ten botanicals: Tuscan juniper, lemon peel from Murcia, Moroccan coriander seeds, Tuscan orris root, Saxon angelica root, Indochinese cassia bark, Spanish almonds, Chinese licorice, Javan cubeb berries, and West African grains of paradise.

Distillation is carried out in two pairs of stills: two large Italian pot stills and two traditional Carter Head stills.

The steam infusion method means the botanicals are not macerated directly in the alcohol; instead, steam passes through perforated copper baskets containing the ingredients, delicately extracting the essential oils.

Each distillation lasts about ten hours, with cuts made manually after evaluating aromatic samples. The distillate reaches approximately 86% alcohol before its final reduction to 40% ABV. No cold filtration or colorants are used.

On the nose, Bombay Sapphire reveals a clean and balanced aromatic profile, where juniper integrates with fresh citrus notes, soft spices, and floral nuances.

On the palate, the entry is smooth and light in texture, evolving to highlight the harmony between the dry character of juniper, the liveliness of lemon, and the spiced complexity of coriander and grains of paradise.

The finish is persistent, with a subtle and elegant bitterness.

It is recommended to serve it neat, on the rocks, or in a balloon glass, and it is a renowned base for classic cocktails such as the Gin & Tonic, Martini, or Negroni, where its purity and balance enhance the blend.
