TASTING NOTES (Published in El Club October 2020)
Can Ràfols dels Caus Gran Caus Blanc 2018
has a nice pale golden colour, very limpid and bright. On the nose it is very refined, with the perfume of ripe white fruits such as apricot and a citrus touch of lemon peel. Over time notes of aromatic herbs that remind of fresh rosemary and fennel appear along with spices such as nutmeg and a slightly toasted touch. On the palate it is wide and voluminous, with a silky texture that envelops the palate and caresses the tongue and a lively freshness that makes it savory and pleasant. The finish is marked by persistent notes of white fruits, brioche and a subtle salty hint. A great white to enjoy now and for the next 10 years. Ideal to accompany fish dishes with creamy sauces, grilled seafood, stewed poultry, rice dishes and creamy goat or sheep cheeses. Serve between 8 and 12ºC in the Oaked Chardonnay glass from the Veritas series by Riedel (6449/97) or in the Viognier glass from the Veritas series by Riedel (6449/05).

“Gran Caus Blanc came out in the early 80s, perhaps it is the white wine that I most want to drink from my own cellar. It is rectilinear, I appreciate its structure and complexity, but above all its finesse, which is its main characteristic ”, says Carlos Esteva.
