When the cava was created in 1872, our ancestors thought of a world class sparkling wine. This is why Josep Raventós Fatjó innovated with Xarel·los from the same vineyards where La Finca comes from; already aware of the great potential of this grape, the mineral structure of our soils, and more importantly, knowing that to be a world Class you have to be authentic. In 1888 Manuel Raventós Doménech created the sparkling fruit set from Penedès only with native varieties: Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada.

After 150 years, CAVA has become a volume-oriented DO without its own geographical identity, in terms of climate and soil; as well as with very low viticulture standards.

As you know, Raventós i Blanc was created to make sense of an Estate where, since 1497, the vine is grown; and continuing the history of a family viticultural tradition of more than 20 generations. Its founder, Josep María Raventós i Blanc thought of a concept of maximum proximity between NATURE AND MAN, recovering the idea of Catalan pagesia, a farmhouse rooted in a farm.

We want to recover the lost past of this life in the traditional Masía del Penedès, this vineyard vineyard, in which the land, plants, animals and man work together in an agricultural ecosystem.

We believe that there is an opportunity for sincere wines, the result of an estate, a specific climate, native varieties, and a demanding, precise and respectful viticulture.

For this reason, in November 2012 I decided to leave DO. Cava.
