Ostatu Escobal 2018

Ostatu Escobal 2018

Ostatu Escobal 2018
is made with Tempranillo grapes from vineyards located on the plot called Marbella, planted in 1995, at an altitude of 547 metres and with a slightly southwest orientation. This is the first parcel of the winery grown organically. The soil is a combination of limestone and gravel sand, with a deep layer of clay, formed by a first layer of sand and small stones. The vineyards enjoy a Mediterranean climate with a great Atlantic influence and extreme differences between winter and summer. The manual harvest took place in small cargo trailers on October 1st, 2018. After the harvest, the grapes were destemmed and macerated in a cold carbonic environment in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation with slight pump-overs at a maximum temperature of 24ºC for 14 days, and subsequent malolactic fermentation and storage in French oak vats with their corresponding racking until bottling on September 16th, 2019, preceded by gentle filtration. Production of 10,195 bottles.

TASTING NOTES (Published in El Club September 2020)
Ostatu Escobal 2018 has a vivid deep and bright garnet colour, with cherry cherry reflections. On the nose it is very intense and fragrant with delicious notes of red berry fruits at the right point of maturity, with a touch of spices such as cloves and a hint of blood orange. On the palate it is voluminous and fresh, with a silky texture formed by round tannins that envelop the palate. The finish is tasty and juicy, with intense notes of cherries, currants and a slight hint of eucalyptus. A fresh red wine perfect to accompany pasta dishes, pizzas, grilled red meats and cow or sheep cheeses. To be enjoyed from now on and for the next 2 years served slightly fresh, between 14 and 16ºC in the Chianti glass of the Vinum de Riedel series (6416/15) or in the Cabernet / Merlot glass of the Vinum Extreme series (6416/0).
