Pago de Carraovejas 2017

Pago de Carraovejas 2017

Pago de Carraovejas is one of the emblematic wineries from Ribera del Duero and one that has most helped to give prestige to the area. It was founded in 1987 by José María Ruiz Benito (Restaurante José María in Segovia) and a group of entrepreneurs who started planting 15 hectares of vineyard in the most famous plot in Peñafiel (Valladolid), Pago de Carraovejas. Pedro Ruiz Aragoneses –son of José María– led the Alma Carraovejas group since 2007. He has given it a significant boost by adding the Ambivium Restaurant, the winery Ossian Vides y Viñedos (Segovia) in 2013, Milsetentayseis (also in Ribera del Duero) in 2017 and Emilio Rojo and Viña Meín in Ribeiro the last year. Pago de Carraovejas 2017 is a coupage made with 94% Tempranillo, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot. Silky, round and voluminous on the palate, with delicious memories of plums, black cherries and a subtle perfume of carob together with spicy and toasted notes. A fantastic Tempranillo to enjoy for a decade accompanying all kinds of stews, grilled red meats, suckling pig and suckling lamb.
