Quinta Sardonia QS2 2017
is a coupage of Tinto Fino (64%), Petit Verdot (17%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%), Syrah (6%), Malbec (45%) and Cabernet Franc (2%) from their own vineyards located in Villabañez and Sardón de Duero (Valladolid), at an altitude between 760 and 830 metres above sea level. The bunches have been selected throughout the summer until they enter the winery and, before fermenting, the varieties have been mixed. The grapes were covered with 4-10% of whole bunches (depending on the soil). The malolactic fermentation was carried out partly in barrels and partly in tanks. The ageing of 18 months was made 70% in French oak barrels of one and two wines, 15% in barrels of a 600 L of one wine and 15% in 1,200-litre French oak foudres. The wine was lightly filtered before bottling. The 2017 vintage has been one of the most complicated in recent years, since it was a dry and abnormally warm winter with a cold May that had frosts on the 27th. The rest of spring and summer were also dry, which resulted in little vegetation and fewer bunches. All these facts caused that an extra effort had to be made in viticulture to maintain the humidity of the soils. With the advancement of the vegetative cycle, it was harvested earlier than usual to continue with a balanced wine.

Quinta Sardonia QS2 2017
has a deep and bright garnet colour. On the nose it is fragrant and intense, with aromas of ripe black fruits reminiscent of blueberries and blackberries, floral notes of violet and notes of spices such as vanilla and black pepper accompanied by a touch of eucalyptus and the smoke of the wood. On the palate it has a wide attack that invades the entire mouth with a fluid texture made up of round and silky tannins. The finish is long and persistent, with a freshness that intensifies the aromas of currants, rosemary and liquorice. A full-bodied red wine that is perfect to accompany autumn cuisine such as stewed meat dishes, mushrooms, mountain rice and cured cheeses. To be enjoyed from now on and for the next 4 years served, between 16 and 18ºC, in the Chianti glass from the Riedel Vinum series (6416/15) or the New World Syrah glass from the Riedel Veritas series (449/30).
