ELABORATION
Remelluri Reserva 2012
is the original wine by Nuestra Señora de Remelluri Estate. It is the result of the most important vineyards of the property with an average age of 40 years. It is made with 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha and 5% Graciano that occupy 148 plots (94 hectares). It is a wine that comes from the three valleys that surround the winery (Remelluri, Valderremelluri and Villaescusa), areas that have been part of the winery since the 14th century. The vineyard is located between 590 and 805 metres of altitude on poor limestone terraces, of a clay-calcareous nature. By zones the mother rock outcrops, made up of sandstones and marls, mostly of tertiary origin. The harvest was manual and took place from October 3rd to 27th. The wine fermented naturally with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and open foudres. Ageing between 20 and 22 months. Total production of 281,392 bottles and 11,090 magnums.
In the 2012 vintage, the changes introduced by Telmo Rodríguez on his return to Remelluri in 2010 are starting to emerge. In a vintage not as warm as 2011, the wine shows a great balance between power and elegance. It was a vintage with concentrated rains in a few months, since November, April and October concentrated more than half of the rains. A warm year in general, but which, thanks to the October rains, offered incomparable maturity and health. Surely one of the best vintages of recent years in Remelluri.

TASTING NOTES (Published in El Club September 2020)
Remelluri Reserva 2012 has a beautiful deep and bright ruby colour. Intense and elegant on the nose with delicate notes of fruit - more black than ripe red - and a finish marked by spicy and balsamic aromas of cloves and eucalyptus and a touch of toasted wood. On the palate it has a texture formed by silky tannins that appear at the end of the mouth giving it body and, along with good freshness, good ageing potential. Intense notes of black fruits and dry tobacco persist at the end of the palate. A complex red wine ideal to accompany grilled red meats, small game stews, cured cheeses and chocolate. To be enjoyed from now on and for the next 8 years served between 16 and 18ºC in the Syrah glass of the Vinum series by Riedel (6416/30) or in the Cabernet / Merlot glass of the Vinum series by Riedel (6416/0).
