Reyneke Cornerstone 2015

Reyneke Cornerstone 2015 is elaborated by Johan Reyneke, who heads one of the most interesting biodynamics wineries in South Africa. The coupage comes from a selection of the best grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from one of the Stellenbosch slopes, with an aging of 18 months in French oak barrels (30% new). ELABORATION
Reyneke Cornerstone 2015
has always been an important wine within the Reyneke range for its philanthropic side. A coupage of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Franc. The intense cluster selection process guarantees that the best fruit from the vineyards is used, all of them biodynamic. Fermentation took place in several concrete tanks and the wine spent 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% new and 70% second and third use. Subsequently, they were aged for 4 months in storage and left to mature in the bottle before being released.

TASTING NOTES (Published in El Club November 2020)
Reyneke Cornerstone 2015
has a nice deep and limpid garnet colour, with slight brick red reflections. On the nose it is delicate and fragrant, with aromas of fruits such as currants and blueberries together with light notes of lightly toasted wood, spices such as nutmeg and red licorice, dried bay leaf and a slight earthy aftertaste. On the palate everything is in its place, it has weight, volume and a texture of silky tannins that are only present at the end of the mouth. A deep and elegant wine to accompany stewed red meats or poultry, small game and cured cheeses. To be enjoyed from now on and for the next 4 years served, between 16 and 18ºC, in the Cabernet / Merlot glass from the Veritas series by Riedel (6404/0) or in the New World Syrah glass from the Veritas series by Riedel (449 / 30).
