This month's selection "faces" three Rioja wines and three Ribera del Duero wines, two denominations of origin where the Tempranillo (also called Tinto Fino and Tinta del País) is the star variety. With clay-calcareous soils, the differences between both regions lie in the climate. Two different rivers (Ebro and Duero) mark the way. Rioja is characterized by a continental climate with soft winters and not too hot autumns, which gives fruity and nuanced wines. Ribera del Duero has a more rigorous and semi-arid continental climate, with extreme and long winters and summers, resulting in more concentrated and bodied wines. Six bottles, one of them in Magnum size, to toast in the autumn.
